The Avro Vulcan was designed by Roy Chadwick and first took to the skies in 1952. It was part of the V Bomber force, which was comprised of the Vulcan, Victor and Valiant. Known for its distinctive delta wing design, the Vulcan played a pivotal role as one of the UK’s nuclear deterrents. The Vulcan was built at Woodford Aerodrome, near Stockport.
