The state of women's hockey is on the rise after a competitive Olympic tournament and coupled with launch of PWHL.

Day 13 at the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics featured dramatic finishes in women's hockey and figure skating -- and gold medals for the United States.

MILAN (AP) — On a night of American comebacks at the Milan Cortina Games, Alysa Liu delivered the U.S. its first women’s figure skating Olympic gold medal in 24 years. The 20-year-old Liu performed a near-flawless free skate Thursday to upstage Japanese rivals Kaori Sakamoto and Ami Nakai.

In the men's cross-country team spring, Ben Ogden and Gus Schumacher surged to silver to deliver the United States its first-ever Olympic medal in the event. Ogden won his second silver as he previously became the first American man to reach an Olympic cross-country podium since 1976.

France's Pierre Crinon was suspended by the French Olympic ice hockey federation on Monday for his fight with Canada's Tom Wilson during Sunday's group-play match. Crinon, 30, is not allowed to play in the rest of the Olympic tournament.
